Positioning Babies for Sleep
When I was a new mum I got lots of advice from older mums as I was the first in my family and my generationn to have babies. At the time lots of this advice was out of date...now it seems it was right as trends change. I must say though the advice the medical community gave me is now out of date too! In my first post I commented on the whole baby's position when sleeping issue, my mother in law insisted babies should sleep on their side, the nurses put our premmie twins on their faces, two years later my son slept on his face [the 3 of them slept on lamb skins if that makes a difference] THEN five years after that I had my youngest - WOW the new advice was that babies should sleep on their sides...with incredibly bad colic and a milk protein allergy the only sleep she got was on her tummy. I guess the point of this post is that as grandparents we have a wealth of experience and should offer advice but realize that trends and medical knowledge change so our kids are getting advice from others who have the benefit of knowledge that was not available to us.
